Your incoming settings are the standard port 110, username (not full address),, do not check "secure connection", use auto for secure password, authentication is "password" do not verify certificate.ĭon't know if this will work for everyone else, but nothing else worked for me in SoCal.
TRIAD.RR.COM EMAIL SETUP FOR OUTLOOK UPGRADE
Now, I did not have authentication options on my Droid X until I did the system upgrade to 2.3.3 but my other phone (Droid 2) did offer these options with 2.2.1 To send e-mail on my Southern California Roadrunner account via Wi-Fi:Įverything is the same except line #6, change it to NONE To send e-mail on my Southern California Roadrunner account via 3G:ġ) Username is your full e-mail address i.e.: Change Outgoing port from 25 to 587ģ) SMTP server: I realize that tech support techies really don't know much more than what pops up on the monitor in front of them, but this guy seemed genuinely knowledgeable of what he was doing and everything that he told me, has rung true for me.Īfter being told everything under the sun from Time Warner why I cannot send email from my Droid X using my Roadrunner account, I finally found two settings that are working (one for wi-fi connection, one for 3G): After all of your accounts have been added, choose if you want to set up Outlook mobile or wait until later. Enter any additional email addresses that you want to use, such as your previous or personal email address. My mail has been working fine since he helped and I have noticed that if I send a mail from my phone at home (when on home WiFi,) it sits in the Outbox until I disconnect from my home network. Enter your Microsoft 365 email address, and select Connect.
He also told me that the default ports that the phone uses should work fine with most of TimeWarner. That is when he explained to me about the authentication on the home network versus the Verizon network and, of course, he reiterated the point that although TimeWarner tries very hard to standardize across the board, the system is not 100% standardized so this might not always be the case. When I got the techy on the line, the very first thing that he asked was, "Are you on your home WiFi?" I told him I was and he said try it again with WiFi turned off. When I was setting up my mail, I was having the trouble with being able to set up the incoming server, but the outgoing server would fail. This is the reason people have troubles setting up their outgoing mail, but not their incoming. If you disconnect from your WiFi, then you will be able to send. When on your home network, because of the authentication from your phone, you shouldn't be able to send mail. However, on your phone, you are not on their network so you must supply your credentials to send mail (this makes it more difficult for spammers.)
On Road Runner, from your home network, you do not log in to send mail. Your mail client always has to log-in to receive mail for security reasons. However, you can find the correct server names on-line through the RR home page for your area. He assured me that just because it was standard, it didn't mean it was always the case. When working on this, the tech at TimeWarner said that was their standard server naming scheme. With Road Runner, at least in my area and surrounding areas.
